Self Portrait Updated

Well, after the first release and all of the attention that it received, I have finally gotten around to making a more accessible version than the H.264 (wiki) version I originally posted. Although H.264 is an MPEG standard, apple seems to be one of the only major players to incorporate it into their players. So, to accomadate all of the other people out there not using quicktime, I put up a basic MPEG-4 version. Its quality isn’t as nice as the H.264, and it has a larger filesize, so I hope this new standard get adopted quickly.

I also used Tongue and Grooves method of standards based object embedding. It uses the conditional comment hack to take care of the limited support for the object tag in Internet Explorer.

So pull up whatever viewer you desire and take a look at the latest version of Self Portrait. I spent quite awhile this weekend plugging the holes left from the dropped Powerbook. In some places I had to go as far as taking screenshots of the icon that the finder in apples still happened to still have and blow that up, so sorry for the blurriness.

And hey if you are interested in a larger version, you can download the full-size quicktime 7 version (sorry to all you MPEGers, I’ll make an MPEG version when I actually incorporate it into the site).
